For the first nineteen years, the Chairman of the RTU, the Retired Teachers' Union, enjoyed the title of President. On stepping down from office, Mr. Robert Judge was the first Hon. Life President and held this title until his death in 1957. Robert Judge and his wife were presented with a special hand crafted booklet to commemorate their time in office and services given.
