CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES (OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS)

The North-East Branch would like to invite you to our Annual Lunch in the Magherabuoy House Hotel, 41 Magheraboy Road, Portrush, BT56-8NX on Monday 26th November at 12.30pm for 1.00pm. The cost is £16.50 per person for a Carvery Lunch in the Lanyon Room. The Carvery Main Course will include roast chicken and stuffing; roast beef and Yorkshire pudding; oven baked salmon; buttered carrots; cauliflower Mornay; brussels sprouts; roast and creamed potatoes and roast gravy. Desserts will include a choice of fruit salad, apple crumble or fruit Pavlova. Tea and coffee will follow. The pupils of Portrush Primary School will provide our after-lunch entertainment. Over the years this function has been popular with our members, so please come along, renew friendships and enjoy the afternoon. The Tyrone Branch would like to invite you to join us at the Annual General Meeting of the Tyrone Branch of the Retired Teachers’ Association will take place at 11.00am on Monday, 3rd December 2018 in the Silverbirch Hotel, 5 Gortin Road, Omagh BT79-7DH followed by lunch at 12.45pm app. in the Dining Room. Tea/coffee will be served at 10.30am. Our guest speaker will be Mrs. Helen Anderson who is an Optician. The North-Down Branch would like to invite you to join us in Carnalea Golf Club Station Road, Bangor BT19-1EZ for our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 5th December 2018 at 12.30pm for 1.00pm. The cost will be £17 per person. This year we have the great fortune to have Ivan Black as our guest entertainer. The breadth of Ivan’s performing experience is considerable. He has played clarinet with the N. I. Light Orchestra, Saxophone with Humphrey Lyttleton’s Jazz Band, and piano with the Ulster Orchestra. He is famous for his one-man show. This promises to be a very enjoyable and successful get-together and we look forward to meeting you all again. New members and friends are, of-course, very welcome. All members of the Retired Teachers’ Association but in particular the members of the Belfast Branch are invited to join us for our Christmas Lunch in the Upstairs Dining-Room of Balmoral Golf Club, 518 Lisburn Road, Belfast BT9-6GX on Thursday, 6th December at 12:30pm for 1:00pm. The lunch costs £18.95 and is subsidised by the Belfast Branch Committee. Your friends are also very welcome to join us or if you are a new member or a member of another branch please make yourself known as we would love to meet you. Following the lunch, there will be a quiz with several prizes. This popular event is always well-attended and there is a limit of 80 places so it definitely is a case of first come. The 77th Annual Conference of the Retired Teachers' Association Northern Ireland will take place at 11.00am on Wednesday, 16th October 2019 in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown, beginning with complimentary tea/coffee & scones from 9.30am. Following a very brief AGM, our guest speakers will address us on issues relevant to retired teachers, followed by a Question & Answer Session. Representatives from the various Teaching Unions will also be present. The Ulster Tatler magazine will be taking photographs for publication in their November edition. A generous lunch, (subsidised) at £12.50 only, will be served at 1.00pm. The Annual Report containing details of the conference, lunch and speakers will be posted out to all members around the second week of September. We hope to continue to encourage more recently-retired teachers, our newer members particularly, to attend this popular event in our calendar.
