The North-East Branch would like to invite you to join us at the 2018 Annual General Meeting of our Branch on Thursday 13th September at 2.30pm in Portstewart Golf Club.  We hope to have as our guest Mrs. Sandra Savage, Chairperson of the Central Executive Committee.  The Speaker will be Mrs. Maud Steele who will entertain us with her humorous poetry with an Ulster-Scots' flavour. The North-Down Branch would like to invite you to join us in Carnalea Golf Club Station Road, Bangor BT19-1EZ for a short A.G.M and Lunch on Wednesday 26th September 12.30 for 1pm. This year our guest speaker/entertainer, will be David Lennon (Bard of Ballysallagh). David has been a stalwart of the local Co. Down folk-scene for over 35 years. An all- Ireland medallist, he draws from a rich repertoire of traditional Ulster song and in particular those of Co. Down. He is a popular avuncular host who accompanies himself on guitar and mandala…a great entertainer! This promises to be a very enjoyable and successful get-together and we look forward to meeting with you all again. New members and friends are, of-course, very welcome. The 76th Annual Conference of the Retired Teachers' Association Northern Ireland will take place at 11.00am on Wednesday, 17th October 2018 in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown, beginning with complimentary tea/coffee & scones from 9.30am. Following a very brief AGM, our guest speaker, Alan Tolson, Platinum Financial Planning Ltd., will give a presentation on post-retirement planning, Individual Wealth Management, Inheritance Tax planning, Protection Planning, the Power of Attorney and Protecting your Inheritance followed by a Question & Answer Session. David Canning, Chair General Teaching Council N.I. will address us on current issues as will Gerry Murphy, Secretary INTO and Cumper Carney, President UTU. Other guests will include Sandra E. Douglas from the newly-formed NEU. The Ulster Tatler magazine will be taking photographs for publication in their November edition. A generous lunch, (subsidised) at £12.50 only, will be served at 1.00pm. The Annual Report containing details of the conference, lunch and speakers will be posted out to all members around the second week of September. We hope to continue to encourage more recently-retired teachers, our newer members particularly, to attend this popular event in our calendar.
